As a Store Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the store operates at peak performance, maximizing sales and profit while adhering to established policies and procedures.
Job Scope
Your commitment to the role will involve working the necessary hours to effectively manage the store, typically between 45 to 52 hours per week, depending on location. You will be expected to accurately report your hours worked, including any planned absences, which require prior approval. Additionally, you will submit a weekly schedule to your supervisor to ensure smooth operations.
Essential Functions
Foster a welcoming and enthusiastic atmosphere for customers, ensuring outstanding service and support.
Complete the Management Training Program successfully.
Recruit, train, and mentor an Assistant Manager, in consultation with your supervisor.
Assist in the hiring and training of other store personnel with support from the Assistant Manager.
Seek guidance from your supervisor regarding personnel or operational challenges, escalating as necessary.
Manage inventory shrinkage effectively, aiming to keep it within 2.5% of annual sales, with awareness that excessive shrinkage may lead to disciplinary action.
Maintain a Shrink Check Test score of 80 or higher, with a commitment to improvement if the score falls below this threshold.
Uphold safety policies and foster positive relationships with local law enforcement for store security.
Create and oversee weekly schedules for all store personnel, adhering to the assigned payroll budget.
Clearly communicate company policies and ensure compliance among all team members.
Accurately report payroll information and maintain organized inventory management.
Ensure cleanliness and organization throughout the store and stockroom areas.
Manage store operating hours per directives from senior management.
Verify merchandise receipts according to established policies, reporting discrepancies.
Supervise product pricing and maintain a well-organized merchandise display.
Keep your supervisor informed about defective merchandise, sales trends, and vendor shipment issues.
Maintain accountability for the store cash fund and sales receipts, enforcing proper cash handling procedures.
Complete all necessary reports, records, and inventories accurately and promptly.
Communicate any equipment or facility issues to your supervisor as they arise.
Maintain confidentiality regarding store sales and company information.
Seek approval for any expenditures over $50.00.
Remain flexible to work hours designated by your supervisor and perform any additional duties as needed.
Implement company programs accurately and timely to benefit associates and customers, including promotions and merchandise initiatives.
Provide positive leadership through professionalism, effective communication, and sound judgment to enhance employee morale.
Qualifications and Skills Required
High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate's degree plus two years of related experience is preferred.
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in store management.
Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proven planning, coaching, and analytical abilities.
Team-oriented mindset and a commitment to collaborative work.
Working Conditions
Retail store environment with extended periods of standing.
Stockroom exposure to varying temperatures and occasional lifting of merchandise.
Frequent handling of merchandise displays and occasional use of ladders.
