Athletic Director (Stipended Position – Potentially Combined Role) Carrabec School District – Rural Central Maine

The Carrabec School District is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Athletic Director to oversee and coordinate all athletic programs across the district. This stipended position may be combined with another open role within the district, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and interests.

In a rural community with a high poverty rate, athletics play a vital role in motivating students and encouraging academic success. Our participation numbers are rising, and our athletic programs are growing stronger and more competitive. We are looking for a leader who will continue to build on this momentum by fostering a culture of sportsmanship, school pride, and student engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and oversee all middle and high school athletic programs
• Recruit, support, and evaluate coaches
• Develop practice and game schedules, and manage transportation logistics
• Ensure compliance with MPA rules and regulations
• Promote student participation in athletics as a path to personal and academic growth
• Manage athletic budgets and equipment inventory
• Foster strong communication with students, staff, parents, and the community

Qualifications:

• Experience in athletic administration, coaching, or teaching preferred
• Strong organizational and leadership skills
• Ability to inspire and engage student-athletes
• Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities in rural school athletics
• CPR/First Aid certification and CHRC (Maine DOE) background check required
